What are Saffron roots?                                           

In terms of agriculture, saffron has two types of roots, (1) absorbing (fibrous) and (2) contractile roots.

Saffron comes from Crocus sativus. Similar to stigma and threads of saffron, roots are also consumable.

Crocin level in the roots of saffron is low; therefore a root does not have the exclusive deep red color. 

 

What are the benefits of saffron roots?

Roots of saffron are a great source of Vitamins such as B1, B2, B6, and C. It is also rich in minerals

of Iron, Magnesium, and Calcium. Very similar to saffron stigmas, roots have pharmacological purposes, too.
